I do not speak the language my family dreams in.

Perhaps one of my deepest regrets is not keeping up with Korean when I was younger. As long as I am not fluent in Korean, there will always be a constant nagging in the back of my mind to learn it. I still have to ask Umma “what does that mean?” when she speaks to me. This website is an accumulation of small stories I’ve collected from the 3 generations of my family: my grandparents, my parents, and me. It is my attempt to give voice to the stories and dreams of my Korean family in the language that I know best. Though I could never do their stories justice, to properly display their courage, bravery, and perseverance in life, I hope to share a glimpse of their lives and the songs they have created in living and loving. I hope to show the generational threads that keep on, no matter the language barrier or identity crisis–and that what it really boils down to is that I truly am simply a mere result of so much love.
