I know a storm is coming
When gray clouds unfurl
Span out across the blue sky
And the light breeze
Is replaced by winds
Rustling and rolling the leaves
Across the pavement
The stream of cars
Rushing motorcycles and hurried people
Covering to find shelter
In a building or beneath the shade of an umbrella
There is no calm before the storm
But only
When the rain comes
The rain brings a halt
The birds no longer chirping
Plants silently soaking up their drink
A pause in the walking
A moment on a bus
To look out the window
I know a storm has arrived
What a relief that it has come.
